Day 4 water only fast

Well, I slept horribly last night, tossing and turning, feeling hot and sweaty at times. I am guessing some toxins were trying to come out of me. When I woke up, I felt like I had a headache and didn't want to get out of bed, my toungue feels like it is covered in fur.

I rolled out of bed and brushed my toungue, juiced half a lemon and put it in a 1/2 liter of water, stepped on the scale, weighed in at 208lbs. Today is supposed to be chock full of energy and clarity, but we will see everybody's body is different.

8:30 am I feel much better now that I am out of bed and have had some water, I don't have a headache, like I thought, seems like it is more of the stiff neck I created tossing and turning.

9:45 am Amazingly, my cravings for food seem to be non-existant at this time. (Early morning, first couple hours after waking). Lets hope it stays this way. Felt pretty good today, created a lens on squidoo at http://www.squidoo.com/azfast

6:30 pm Well now it's that time again, feel the hunger and tiredness starting to set in. This has always been the toughest time. I felt really good pretty much all day, no feelings of hunger, and a clear head, but now its time again to dig deep and push through the evenings.

Day 3 of the water fast

Woke up feeling great again. Weighed in at 210 lbs. Started off with a 1/2 liter of water and lemon juice. Also did an enema to cleanse the colon. (Don't forget to do this 1-2 times daily so your body doesn't reabsorb toxins)

The afternoon got pretty tough, thought about eating quite a bit, but sat on the phone all day talking to friends and family to keep my mind off hunger. Speaking of mind, my mind has been really clear today, another thing that seems to happen during fasting. It is very easy to think things through slowly and thoroughly.

I took a walk in the afternoon and picked up my mail so I was able to get some sun and circulation through my body. I did feel very weak, so I took it real slow and easy. Walked for about 10 minutes and turned back around, so I was able to get my 20 minutes of sunshine in.

I know I need to force more water down, I have probably drank 3 liters of water, which is about 102 oz.

I drove to pick up my son from football practice this evening and started thinking about a fresh Subway sandwich, and how their fresh bread would taste. As I was driving, I thanked the good Lord for the food he provides us, and told myself I will never take another bite of food for granted. (Ok, I probably won't stick to the last part of that, but I will try and savor every bite from now on)

Another thing I noticed over the last two nights, is how incredibly good I am sleeping. I sleep so sound and when I wake up, I am not tired at all. The mornings so far, feel the best. I am looking forward until tomorrow, as that seems to be the turning point from tough to clear and energetic!

Day 2 water only today

Woke up feeling great, thought this was a piece of cake. Laid around the house and got plenty of rest, I slept several times during the day including once in the afternoon and once in the early evening.

When I woke up after the early evening nap, I felt really hungry, worse than I had felt so far. The good news was that my headache was gone, so I feel I flushed out some of the toxins that caused the headache.

I forgot to mention my starting weight for the fast was 217 lbs, and my weight today was 215 lbs.

They say the first 1-3 days are the hardest, and there is no question this was a tough one.

I drank 1/2 liter of lemon juice and water in the morning. And another 2 1/2 liters throughout the day. I also went to the gym today and sat in the sauna for about 10 minutes, I couldn't really find the information I wanted about going in the sauna while fasting. I got about 50/50 good vs bad.

I would say that it felt great, however, it seemed really tough to rehydrate myself for the rest of the day, so I am not going to do it anymore.

Day 1 Juice Only

Today I started off with some carrot and apple juice in the morning. Tasted pretty good, and after I finished it, I thought, "what did I get myself into?" I was still pretty hungry and it did not satisfy me like I thought it would. I drank it with water, but I didn't mix them together, but it ended up being a 50/50 mix in my stomach.

I made a couple more in the afternoon and evening. At 8:00 pm started drinking strictly water. As the evening progressed, I began to get a headache, and it was quite strong, I usually don't get headaches, so I knew something was working, as I read that this is a sign of the body detoxing.

Decided at this point to do a water only fast for 3-5 days depending on how I feel. Going to finish it off with juice.

Some points I picked up before the fast
  • Get plenty of rest
  • Listen to your body
  • Drink anytime you feel hunger or thirst
  • Get about 20 minutes of sunshine
  • Mind over matter
